The poem
Whenever I walk in a London street, I'm ever so careful to watch my feet; And I keep in the squares, And the masses of bears, Who wait at the corners all ready to eat The sillies who tread on the lines of the street Go back to their lairs, And I say to them, "Bears, Just look how I'm walking in all the squares!"
And the little bears growl to each other, "He's mine, As soon as he's silly and steps on a line." And some of the bigger bears try to pretend That they came round the corner to look for a friend; And they try to pretend that nobody cares Whether you walk on the lines or squares. But only the sillies believe their talk; It's ever so portant how you walk. And it's ever so jolly to call out, "Bears, Just watch me walking in all the squares!"

im a 14 year old girl from australia, who has just recently lost a friend that was crushed by a falling tree on a school camp. she shared a tent with a girl, that was hardly hurt - physically - it was her best friend.my friends name was Alice Sloan. she has 3 other sisters. all of them younger. one in year 9. one in year 7. and katie in year 5. i love the oldest one like a sister, and their parents are the most beautiful people. alice sloan was just 16 years old when she died. our school, a private school in victoriua australia, was absoloutly devestated. and there was still a year 10 camp group in china, and they didnt find out about alice untill at least a week later. the whole school is never the same again. we miss her so much. and we all held hands on the oval and let go 100 red and white ballons - her house colours - into the sky. we had a 'gathering in the expression of love for alice' 1 week later. and the turnout was 2,000 people. that is massive. her parents called it that rather then a 'service' because they felt it was to celebrate her life. not to farewell it. her rowing team made a guard of honour with their oars, and the whole corridor was full of bill boards with thousands of photos of alice. the start of the ceremony started with the song 'jitterbug - by wham' the media sitting at the back were astounded and confused, but it was alices' favourite song .. she said "it just makes you want to dance". later it was followed by her 7 year old cousin reading out a card that alice sent to her mum when her cousin was born. people spoke. her sisters dignified of how they felt. the dad spoke about her life. and the mum just said 2 words ' thankyou ' while being held up by her sister. she is such a beautiful person jenny sloan. halfway through this katie, al's youngest sister, read out alice's favourite poem. which was this one. everytime i read it i think of alice. everytime i hear the song jitterbug - i think of alcie. everytime i hear the song - idont want to miss a thing by aerosmith - it was played as a finale song - i cry in remebering alice. she was no saint. but now shes an angel, and looking down on us. guiding us. and on an over pass later that week. the year 10's put up a sign. 'keep smiling for alice'. i havnt found any where to post alice's remebering story, that iv wanted to tell. so i figure where else the n her favourite poem. we will never forget you, never forget anything you've taught us, i hurt when i remeber your gone. and your best frend was sitting on the oval by hurslef today. why do bad people live and hurt others. and beautiful peopel like alice, leave and hurt the people they'v left behind. its not fair. i will never forget you alicat.
.. this is not some stupid story where you give money. bvecuas e money doesnt matter. flowers dont matter. the only thing that matter s are 3 things. your love. your words. and your tears that i and thousands have for alice. thankyou.
if you would like to email me. feel free.
