XVII (I do not love you...)

This is a beautiful poem. It conveys such meaning and feeling, that one cannot help but feel the emotion within themselves that was so obviously put into the composition of it.

Immensely beautiful and touching, this is especially poignant for me as I have just taken the painful decision of leaving someone who does not love me for whom I am.

Man, this guy must've been deeply in love...i mean, i myself felt the emotion while reading this poem...even someone who isn't in love could fall inlove just by reading this...haha....great stuff...

neruda perfectly words everything that is undescribable. Nietzsche said to catch a beautiful thought and try to write it down is like trapping a bird and killing it--it loses its magic and splendor once you've caught it... If this is the case, Pablo is a magnificent taxidermist.

This poem in it's complexities portrays a love that goes beyond words or physical boundries. It is a deeper kind of love one that can only be felt by two people who have an understanding for each other. He does not love this person as a material object or a thing of perfection. He loves this person for this persons heart and soul. This is love that two people share as one. That is why at the end he seems to combine the two beings in physical movements cause there love links them together as one.

this is my favorite poem ever and i have it memorized. My ex-boyfriend handed me this poem one day claiming he had written it for me. after our falling out i heard this poem in a movie. "patch adams" and i was horrified. now i know, this poem is too perfect for anyone i've ever dated to have ever written

I first heard this poem in the movie "Patch Adams" and although I am not a poetry person it made me cry. I think it is the most expressive, beautiful collection of words I have ever heard. I only wish I had met my perfect match in life so I could hjave recited it to her.

Oh, Neruda!

I read this poem to my husband Daniel during our vow ceremony (weddding)...AS THE VOW. This description of our love, or mine for him at least, is unmatched by any other poem...WHAT a genius. (not me, Pablo)

When I think of how one must contain such passion in just one emotion, I feel it in every one that I own and that is the beauty of this poem.

I am falling in love with Neruda; he writes so eloquently, and truthfully. When he is one of those emotionally in touch people that can write as they feel without losing the beauty of the moment, of that love.

I have to say that the is the best poem that I have ever heard. The words truly captivated me and got me thinking about the depth of love that this man is trying to convey. He remarkably tries to capture the depth of an indescribable love in the best way that I have ever heard in my life. If you know of anything that has topped this let me know!!! = )

This poems show spiritual emotion from person to person in a vast form that only makes you want to re-read. Neruda writes in such a way that it captivates the readers minds into his own world. Neruda's show of emotion is protrayed by the way he interpreates the bond between to people.

a magnificently lovely poem. i heard it from the movie patch adams. apart from the movie, i'm not sure that this poem reflects the same share of feelings from two persons, i believe, that this poem is better of to be addressed to a person which he deeply in love with, without the addressed person knowing of. anyway, i wanted to use this poetry in my thesis, the problem is, i don't really know the background [ mimetic aspect ] of why he created this poem. anyone care to help ?

This is a a very powerful masterpiece that captivates even the hardest of hearts. I fell in love with the poem instantly when I chanced upon it over the internet. Plus, it was quoted in one of the touching scenes in "Patch Adams". I will definitely recite it on my wedding day :-)

i came acros this poem a couple of years ago, and i fell in love with it straightaway. this led me to search for neruda's poems and they are all as exquisite and unnerving. i love it for the simplicity of words and the intensity of emotion it creates. i sometimes recite it to myself in the dark and feeling overwhelmed by its honesty and purity.

I first heard this poem when my then girlfriend and I watched the theatre release of the movie "Patch Adams". We were both deeply touched and affected by the words and sentiments expressed by Robin Williams in that funeral scene. I was so affected by the words that I searched the internet for the author and complete version of this poem. I presented it to my girlfriend handwritten on parchment and it became our theme in so many ways. Sadly, our relationship didn't last. But this poem will always remind me of those special times and the love we shared.

This poem is probably the sweetest, most uplifting poem I have ever heard. When Robin Williams reads this one in the Patch Adams movie, I get choked up every time. This poem has gotten me out of trouble too many times to count....lol

i haven't heard about this poem, until i saw the movie, "patch adams" when robin williams read this poem to carin mmm i think that was her name, when he read it to her, even when he had not finished the poem, i fell in love with it, so i searched the poem on line, and i found it, i really love this poem, coz the words, and the feeling, everything makes me feel, i don't know, comes to my heart, the poem is awesome
