The poem
Hello, sun in my face. Hello, you who made the morning and spread it over the fields and into the faces of the tulips and the nodding morning glories, and into the windows of, even, the miserable and the crotchety — best preacher that ever was, dear star, that just happens to be where you are in the universe to keep us from ever-darkness, to ease us with warm touching, to hold us in the great hands of light — good morning, good morning, good morning. Watch, now, how I start the day in happiness, in kindness.

My copy of Mary Oliver's book has "make", not "made" in the second line. Also there are two blank lines in the text, before "best preacher..." and before "Watch now..."
If you are going to use someone's work, you might at least use it accurately.
This peom is told in a local Church.
Mary Oliver, you are my favorite poets.
I know that in difficult times one turns to God.
At least I do, and as an American/French/Russian...
Russian Orthodox I used this as a prayer as well. Patrick, I wsnt invite Mary O. to California whenever she wants, to share her poetry with us. A workshop may be. I pray to see this happen. regards... God Bless You.
