I don't think she was writing about the colour of people. I believe this haiku says that there are things that people just don't see. For example, you can't see a black hole. You just see that there is nothing there.
Like wise, people don't see the poor, but they do notice when there arn't any. "Oh, what lovely neighbourhood." "Yes, and none of those filthy bums to dirty the place." Ever heard that one?

Maybe it's just me, but i didn't get it. where is the black hole? and how does a black hole have to do with racism? is this a relation to the skin tone of african american people? and the language wasn't necessary to make the poem powerful.

That is one of the worst "poems" I have ever herd a child could have written it. First of all it makes no sense and secondly the author can't find a better use of words (profanity). I would not clasify this as a poem it might meet the criteria but it doesn't mean any thing it doesn't invock emotion and that is what poems are ment to do.

The "black hole" symbalizes the opinions of all the people with racist thoughts. The poet is trying to understand where these racist thoughts are comming from because she doesnt see the black hole which means she doesnt see anything negative in any other races. She doesn't understand these opinions.

This poem is not a haiku.

i think the "black hole" was a good poem just a bit to simple. and what is the black hole? over all it was a pretty good poem.
tip. you should add a bit more and explain yourself a bit more in your poems!! great work.

I think this poem is awesome. I'm even gonna use it in my english speech, see what my teacher has to say about the cursing. i think this poem is really good, it shows how some people can easily see the discrimination around them, while others are totally naaive. Great job writer chick!

Some people may look at this peom and think it is very deep and artistic. Im not a big art fan i must say this is the worst poem i have ever seen i could have shat something out ten times better than that. i would like to know how long the writer spent on that and did they think about what you were writing or did you just hope people would see something in it. Im tring to do an english essay and you have just wasted my much needed time.

  10. ??Severely Confused?? Australia

yes... this was not a great help at all for my english essay and i'm suprised that this poem is even on the web site! just a lotta bull to me

in my opinion, whoever wrote this poem was just trying to see what some people were gonna say about it
i dont think this is a real poem
and honestly, those who try to find meaning in it, listen to yourself, i talk with more meaning in my daily life
this is the writing of somebody who was just mad and confused
    so get over it
and stop trying to understand the "artist"
there's this quote: "just because nobody can understand you doesn't mean your an artist"

Sam:i like this poem cos of it's randomness, however there isn't really any intelligence involved...
Lucy: this poem is knid of pointless and there AREN'T any hidden depths...
Frankie: i think you're all very sad 4 even bothering to comment...

  13. jord Australia

this poem is very inapropriate and it is very bad.

  14. WHY United States

This is not a true haiku. The point the author is trying to make is people are looking for things they don't see. It makes sense but was not written clearly enough for most people to understand(no offense). Although I am surprised this was the first thing on the list on google...

Okay, what is it with people making such RIDICULOUS comments? This is not a website for amateur poets so why do people keep giving the poet advice as if they are listening and anticipating your comments? Also, why are all of you on poetry websites when you clearly have no understanding of the English language. Most of you cannot spell, most have no concept of grammer at all and worst of all you make childish comments about poetry that you clearly have no understanding of. You all epitomise banality and ignorance!

okay..i am 13 years of age, im doing poetry anthologies for school so i searched haiku's and THIS IS WHAT YOU GIVE ME:
    1. i can write a poem better then that --thats very sad
    2. you ARE NOT A POET
    3. poem is very immature
    3. poem is also very innapropriate

Absolutely the most bodacious poem fate, divine intervention, or serendipity has permitted me to come across on this site. As for the adolecent alleged poetry critics offering criticism, consider finishing high school English, or, as you so confidently boast, write a better poem. Perhaps it'll be on here after your bones turn into dust or, obviously enough, never.
